Family Home-Stay Advantages
Staying with a family allows your students to practice Spanish in real situations and make a genuine connection with the country. It enables them to find out about the Spanish way of life, their customs and homes, to try the food and maybe even learn how to cook a dish! They stay not as a tourist but as another member of the family.
Our outgoing and welcoming host families are located together in the same neighbourhood (or nearby) within each destination city. The majority have been working with us for many years and know how to talk and relate to young people to make sure they have a rich and positive experience. We visit the families and their homes regularly to ensure that the accommodation is of the required standard.
Furthermore, we ensure students are not alone by always placing 2 or 3 students (occasionally 4) of the same gender together with a family. The teachers can also stay with a family, or in a hotel (with supplement) if they prefer.
Family home-stay comes as full-board. Breakfast and dinner is eaten at home with the family, whilst a pack-lunch is given to the students in the morning to take with them. Students with specific dietary needs can be catered for without difficulty so long as we are informed well in advance.
With family home-stay the students tend to create less mess than when they stay altogether in a hotel/hostel. Additionally, it is more comfortable for the teachers because after the day’s activities and visits the students return to their respective host families and the teachers can relax.
We recommend this type of accommodation for Spanish language students or those truly interested in experiencing life in a Spanish home:
- Perfect for groups who are learning Spanish - no matter what their level, it is always good to practice the language.
- Great for groups of younger students. It offers reassurance to parents and teachers alike that the children are in a family environment.
- Ideal for longer stays, not only because of the difference in price, but also because the relationship with the family strengthens each day.
- Helpful with larger groups given that there is always a local manager to count on.
